Why We Exist
Hội Cao Niên Hoa Mai was created with a simple belief: no senior should feel alone, disconnected, or left behind because of language, cultural, or social barriers.
As members of the Vietnamese-Canadian community grow older, many face challenges that can make everyday life more difficult. Language barriers, social isolation, limited access to information, unfamiliarity with government and community services, and changing technology can all make it harder for seniors to remain active and connected.
Our association exists to create a welcoming place where Vietnamese seniors can connect, participate, learn, stay active, and continue to be valued members of the community.
Through social gatherings, cultural activities, wellness programs, meditation, gentle exercise and stretching, educational workshops, seasonal outings, technology assistance, and help understanding available community and government services, we hope to support seniors in living healthier, more independent, and socially connected lives.
Just as importantly, Hội Cao Niên Hoa Mai is a place for friendship. We want seniors to have opportunities to meet one another, share their experiences, celebrate Vietnamese culture, laugh together, and continue creating new memories.

Hội Cao Niên Hoa Mai was established specifically to serve seniors, with particular attention to the needs of Vietnamese seniors and others who may experience language, cultural, or social barriers.

We understand that effective senior support is not simply about providing activities. It requires trust, patience, cultural understanding, clear communication, and genuine human connection.

Our programs are supported by instructors, volunteers, community members, and professionals who contribute their skills and experience in areas such as physical activity, meditation and wellness, education, cultural programming, social activities, and community support.

We also recognize our responsibility to know where our role ends. When seniors require professional, medical, legal, financial, or government assistance beyond our expertise, our goal is to help connect them with appropriate qualified services and community resources.

Above all, we believe seniors themselves should have a voice in the association. Their experiences, needs, interests, and ideas will help guide the programs and activities we develop.

Our Mission

Our mission is to enhance the quality of life of seniors by promoting connection, healthy living, independence, lifelong learning, and community participation.

We provide culturally welcoming programs and activities that help seniors remain physically active, socially engaged, informed, and connected while reducing the barriers that can lead to loneliness and isolation.

We are especially committed to supporting Vietnamese seniors who may face language or cultural barriers when accessing services and participating in the wider community.

Aging should not mean withdrawing from life. It can remain a time of friendship, discovery, purpose, and belonging.
What We Do
Activities may include:
• Health & Wellness – meditation, gentle exercise, stretching, mobility activities, and healthy-aging education.
• Social Connection – regular gatherings, celebrations, games, shared meals, and opportunities to develop friendships.
• Seasonal Outings – group excursions to enjoy spring blossoms, summer destinations, autumn colours, cultural attractions, and other seasonal experiences.
• Culture & Heritage – Vietnamese cultural celebrations, music, traditions, storytelling, and opportunities to share our heritage with younger generations.
• Learning & Technology – workshops and assistance with smartphones, computers, online communication, and everyday technology.
• Information & Community Navigation – helping seniors better understand available government programs, community resources, and services, and directing them to appropriate professional assistance when necessary.
• Education & Workshops – guest speakers and practical sessions on topics relevant to healthy and independent aging.
• Volunteer & Intergenerational Activities – creating opportunities for seniors, volunteers, families, and younger generations to learn from and support one another.
As the association grows, our programs will continue to evolve based on the interests and needs of the seniors we serve.
